Steyerism is a variant of paternalism that emphasizes positivity in parents having a role in nudging children towards the management of online media use and responsible behavior online. Steyerism promotes authoritarian parenting and priveliges adults over children in their media choices and the Internet.
Personality
Steyerism is much more protective than most paternalist ideologies, due to the increasing use of the Internet for young children and their beliefs in teaching children their values. Steyerism believes in media sanity via the "not in front of children" doctrine and claims to improve the media landscape. In addition, it promotes a less subtle paternalism based on the conviction that its values should control children's media experiences.
It is extremely sensitive about children's online media use and their behavior and they go as far to rate content containing mild language higher and overpromote parental restrictions on children.
