Neo-Leftism is a left-wing socialist and social democratic ideology based off the recent revival of leftism in the western world in the past few decades. It is mostly prominent in Europe but also in America. It is most of the time, either socialist, marxist or social democratic as well as lots of progressivism.
History
The Rise of Western Leftism 
Leftism in the western world traces back to the late 19th century when the political franchise was expanded to encompass most of the working class. During this period, many socialist and social democratic political parties opened up in Western Europe such as 
The British Labour Party, 
The French Socialist Party and 
The German Sozialdemocratische Party.
The Russian Revoloution and WW2 
In 1917, communist revoloutionaries in Russia revolted in what was the Russian Revoloution, during WW2. In the aftermath of the Russian Revoloution and WW1, communism and leftism were thought of disgraced in the Western World. During the Interwar Peeiod, communist influence spread to Western Europe with French and British communist parties being established to rival against the already existing socialist parties. After WW2, the Cold War happened and Communism was looked down upon in the Western World, once again.
The New Left
In the 1960s and 1970s, a large amount of progressivists emerged all around the world named "The New Left" having many of the progressive traits we know today, such as pro-choice abortion, gender equality and rights, LGBTQIA+ rights and black rights. In Latin Americam, various socialist and communist parties popped up all along the continent in a new form of democratic socialism, however, these were put down by the U.S and replaced with rightist dictatorships. In the U.K, progressivists and leftists began to center around the Labour Party and began to grow in popularity. The same thing happened in continental Europe as well. In Japan, the United Red Army and the Japanese Red Army emerged. Another factor to the New Left movement, was alot of student revolts and uprisings across the world.
Modern Leftism 
In the 2000s, Socialism and Progressivism continued to be relevant due to the New Left and in 2007, a new leftist party opened up in Germany. In America, the politician Bernie Sanders advocated for a variety fo social democratic and democratic socialist policies which brang alot of leftism to America. Also in the recent years, progressivism movements like BLM have gotten more traction with Progressivism being a very popular ideology in the 21st century. Socialist parties in Europe continue to thrive (although the Labour Party seems to be crumbling) and all across the world, socialism continues to be relevant and a major threat to the capitalist status quo.
