Technocratic ideologies are economically, culturally variable, and civically variable ideology who supports a system of governance in which decision-makers within the area are selected on the basis of their expertise in a given area of responsibility, particularly with regard to scientific or technical knowledge, and supports the formation of a government, organization, or system of scientists, engineers, urban planners etc. The term can also sometimes be used to describe the idea of approaching social and economical problems through the lens of sustainability and the scientific method as opposed to the pursuit of monetary profit.
