The Cahokian Model refers to the agrarian-based economy and culture of the Ancient Cahokian mound building civilization located on the East bank of the Mississippi River nearby present-day St. Louis.
History
The Cahokian Model when the city was first discovered and founded around the 6th-9th centuries. However the actual name of Cahokia is unknown as the word "Cahokia" comes from an Illiniwek tribe that lives near the mounds. Cahokia was the cultural and religious center for many pre-Columbian Mississippian natives. Eventually, Cahokia began to decline in the 13th century largely due to environmental factors, intense floods, and political strife left the civilization to be abandoned by 1350.
