Boschism (Spanish: Boschismo) is a group of Dominican parties either founded by former Juan Bosch himself or split from them which now dominate the political landscape of the Dominican Republic.
History
Juan Bosch began his career as an opposition leader against the Trujillist regime. During that time he cooperated with File:Arevalism (Spiritual Socialism).png the Guatemalan Government as part of the "Caribbean Legion" and he formed the "Dominican Revolutionary Party" (PRD).
After the fall of the assassination of Trujillo, he won the first election in 1962 but was ousted in a coup soon after leading to a civil war in 1965, in which the US-backed army won and established a new authoritarian regime by former Trujillo-puppet Balaguer.
During this period the PRD moved to the centre, so Bosch founded "Dominican Liberation Party" (PLD) but even this party became centrist after Busch's death and even formed a coalition with Balaguer's PRSC in 1996.
In the 2020 presidential election won the election "Modern Revolutionary Party" another PRD-split. Also the "People's Force" led by former PLD president Leonel Fernández gained 9% of the vote.
