Prohibitionism, or Anti-Alcoholism refers to the movement to ban the manufacture, sale, and consumption of alcohol. It was a significant social and political movement in the 
United States and other countries in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The goal of the prohibitionist movement was to reduce the negative social and health consequences associated with alcohol use, such as drunkenness, domestic violence, and crime.
History
An example of prohibition happened in the US from Jan 17, 1920 – Dec 5, 1933. It is also applied in many Muslim countries due to alcohol being awesome haram.
