(Redirected from American Royalism)
American Loyalism is a ideology around Americans who stayed loyal to the British Empire during the American Revolutionary War, while many Loyalists shared similar grievances with the Patriots, they for various reasons felt that it would be better to remain as British subjects and fought against Independence. After the American Revolutionary War concluded with a Patriot victory and American independence many Loyalists settled in what would became Canada and became known as "United Empire Loyalists' though most remained within the United States and integrated.
Nowadays American Loyalism is essentially dead, though small circles of support remain.
